The control group received only the anesthetic protocol. The metoclopramide group received an intravenous bolus of 1 mg/kg, and continuous infusion (1 mg/kg/h intravenously) immediately after anesthetic induction. The ranitidine group received an intravenous bolus of 2 mg/kg, 6 h before anesthesia. Anesthesia (acepromazine, propofol and isofluorane) was standardized and the esophageal pH variations were recorded.

Esophagoscopy was carried out after surgery. No difference (p < 0.05) was verified in the reflux episodes between the groups. Seven animals presented reflux. Metoclopramide in bolus and continuous infusion, as well as ranitidine, 6 h before anesthesia, did not influence the reduction of the incidence of gastroesophageal reflux. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. “Childbirth-related morphological abnormalities or defects of the puborectalis muscle (“”avulsion”") can be diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging Epigenetics inhibitor and three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound, but neither method is universally available. In this study, we tested validity and reproducibility of a new method for diagnosing levator avulsion by 2D translabial ultrasound.

Seventy-five women were examined for major morphological abnormalities of the puborectalis muscle by palpation, 2D and 3D ultrasound (US). For 2D US, we used an oblique

parasagittal translabial approach. The operator using 2D US was blinded against all other findings.

Agreement Selleckchem PFTα between observers for diagnosis of avulsion by 2D US was 87% (Cohen’s kappa 0.56, CI 0.33-0.80). Agreement between tomographic 3D US and 2D US was 87% (kappa 0.61, CI Q-VD-Oph supplier 0.45-0.77).

Defects of the puborectalis muscle can be diagnosed with 2D US. The finding of a discontinuity between the hyperechogenic muscle and the pelvic sidewall is moderately reproducible and agrees moderately well with palpation and 3D US.”
“The angular dependence of dynamic magnetic properties of FeTaN thin films fabricated by rf sputtering deposition technique onto various substrates was investigated in conjunction with static magnetic characteristics. Thin films grown onto

rigid and thick substrates show a well-defined uniaxial anisotropy and strongly distinct permeability spectra measured at various orientations while those samples grown onto flexible and thin substrates exhibit a less well-defined uniaxial anisotropy and much less different permeability spectra. The resultant variation of the magnetization orientation distributions obtained by retrieving the magnetization values from the permeability curves for different substrates can be interpreted in terms of the magnetic anisotropy dispersion due to stress.
